MEET THE TEAM
RANDY SUSSMAN, Founder
Randy Sussman grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, where he attended Cushing Academy and Emerson College. Inspired by his father, who was an entrepreneur, Randy developed a passion for business at an early age. After graduating from college, he joined the family business at the legendary Bookbinders Seafood House in Atlantic City before launching Randy's Tickets, a New York City-based premium ticket brokerage. Over the next 15 years, he built the company into a successful business serving clients across the United States and internationally.
After relocating to Marco Island, Florida, in 2016, Randy attended the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships in nearby Naples. Before leaving the tournament, he had already purchased his first paddle, eager to learn the game that had instantly captured his attention. He began playing immediately and, without ever taking a lesson, won a gold medal in his very first tournament competing at the 3.5 level.
As someone new to Southwest Florida, pickleball gave Randy much more than a sport—it introduced him to lifelong friendships and an incredible community. Those relationships, along with his passion for the game, inspired him to ask a simple question: Why isn't there a pickleball brand that offers stylish, comfortable apparel designed specifically for pickleball players?
After creating the PB1965 logo and selling his very first T-shirt, Randy realized he was building something much bigger than apparel. The name says it all: PB stands for pickleball, and 1965 honors the year the sport was invented—a name he proudly believes is "the best in the business."
Today, Randy's vision is to make PB1965 synonymous with the very best in pickleball by producing the sport's most comfortable and stylish apparel while hosting exceptional tournaments that players look forward to year after year. More importantly, he hopes the company becomes known for giving back by supporting local charitable organizations and providing tournament opportunities and apparel to those who are less fortunate.
When he's not growing PB1965, Randy enjoys spending time at the beach, jet skiing, horseback riding, attending concerts and sporting events, and connecting with the incredible pickleball community he now considers family.
His philosophy is simple: "Under promise and over deliver."
Larry Gordon, Partner
Larry Gordon is a lifelong Miami Beach resident who proudly says he is "73 years young." A lifelong entrepreneur and former USTA tennis instructor and coach, Larry has always had a passion for sports, competition, and helping others improve their game.
Larry discovered pickleball in 2019 while on a Princess Cruise, and it was love at first game. What began as a fun vacation activity quickly turned into a competitive passion. Since then, he has earned numerous gold medals in both singles and doubles competition, including championships at the 2021 U.S. Open, the 2022 Masters Championship, and the Florida State Senior Championship.
In addition to competing, Larry enjoys sharing his knowledge of the game as a pickleball instructor for the City of Hollywood, Florida, where he coaches players at Stan Goldman Park and Jefferson Park. Whether teaching beginners or competing against some of the sport's best players, Larry loves helping others discover everything pickleball has to offer.
A longtime fan of quality sports apparel, Larry discovered PB1965 shortly after the brand launched and has proudly worn it ever since. Today, he is honored to represent PB1965 as a brand ambassador and partner with founder Randy Sussman in promoting a brand that reflects the style, quality, and community of pickleball.
Larry has been happily married to his wife Shirley. When he's not on the pickleball court, he enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends, and sharing his passion for the sport with players of all ages.
Mary Falco, Partner
Mary is a realtor and a partner in PB1965. Her real estate career began in Illinois and continues today in Southwest Florida. Before real estate, going back to the mid-1980s, she was a computer programmer and IT manager for manufacturing companies in Chicago, where she ran a large department at a young age. She has been through her share of challenges and obstacles, and her faith carried her through them.
"I came to pickleball the hard way. I fought it for the longest time. Everybody kept telling me I had to try it, and I kept saying no. It took my friends months to finally get me on a court. Then I played, and that was it. I loved the challenge, the wanting to get better every time out. And it turned out I loved running tournaments just as much. That's a big part of what we do at PB1965, putting on successful tournaments here in Southwest Florida that bring players together and keep them coming back.
What I love just as much is our gear. The name says it, PB1965, when it all began. I wear it myself, the tank tops especially, and I have my favorite skorts too. It's soft, it moves, and it carries something when you walk on a court in it. Pickleball people are their own crowd, and there's real pride in wearing your game and seeing your people wearing it right back.
The organization and planning comes from my computer days. The rest comes from a game that won me over and a community I love being part of."
